StormGeo demonstrates its continued dedication to sustainability and responsible business practices by submitting its latest Communication on Progress (CoP) to the UN Global Compact. This CoP highlights our ongoing efforts in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance and reinforces our long-term commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Established in 1999, the UN Global Compact has grown to become the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, with more than 25,000 corporate participants from 167 countries. StormGeo has been committed to the UN Global Compact corporate initiative, and the Sustainable Development Goals, and its ten principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption since 2018.
“As a company rooted in deep knowledge about the weather and environment, StormGeo has long been committed to working according to sustainability best practices,” says Natalie Diane Gibson Eaton, Global HSSE & Sustainability Manager at StormGeo.
“Our participation in the UN Global Compact strengthens our ability to integrate sustainability thinking into our own operations while simultaneously helping our clients navigate the green transition and contribute positively to society at large. We’re proud of our progress so far and look forward to further innovating for a greener future for our clients and society.”
StormGeo made significant strides in advancing its sustainability goals – contributing both to the UN Global Compact and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – in 2023, the year which the latest CoP covers.
Some of the highlights include:
With strong positions in the shipping and energy industries, we have developed vast knowledge built over two decades about weather intelligence, ocean science, climatology, and advanced algorithms for decision support. At StormGeo, we are "Informed by nature, powered by technology," ensuring that our knowledge of weather and nature, combined with advanced technology, helps us and our clients reduce their environmental impact.
Within the shipping industry, for example, we monitor and help optimize performance for more than 73,000 voyages, leading the way to green transition, sustainability, and growth for the industry. This amounts to 5 million+ MT of fuel saved over a decade and 15 million+ MT less CO2 emissions over a decade.
Our ability to deliver innovative solutions is fueled by our deep understanding of nature, the weather, and the environment – as well as our commitment to responsible business practices. By continuing our commitment to the principles of the UN Global Compact, we strengthen our ability to help our clients navigate the green transition and a changing climate.
