About the Role  

StormGeo is looking for a skilled Software Engineer to join our Routing Advisory Services (RAS) product team, to help build and enhance our software applications for shipping. As a Software Engineer, you'll work closely with cross-functional teams - including product managers, designers, and other developers - to understand business needs and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions. Your expertise in software development, coding best practices, and problem-solving will play a key role in shaping reliable and user-friendly products that deliver real value to our clients. 

📍 This position is based in Lithuania. 

Main Responsibilities  

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications for vessel routing and communications, including background processes and web-based tools for global vessel routing, data maintenance, and report generation. 
  • Design, develop, and maintain Web API services. 
  • Ensure application security by adhering to best practices and implementing secure coding standards. 
  • Optimize application performance for scalability and efficiency. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions. 
  • Conduct code reviews to maintain high coding standards and promote best practices. 
  • Maintain clear documentation for development processes, system architecture, and codebases. 

Core Requirements 

  • 3+ years of experience developing backend applications using C#/.NET and ASP.NET. 
  • Strong experience with SQL Server and relational databases. 
  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs (gRPC is a plus). 
  • Some experience developing or maintaining user interfaces using a modern front-end framework such as Angular, React, or Vue.js. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. 
  • Good understanding of software engineering best practices, including code quality, security, performance, and testing. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, QA, product owners, and other stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and commitment to delivering high-quality software. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Willingness to maintain, refactor, and improve existing codebases. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. 
  • Experience with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, or similar. 
  • Familiarity with software architecture patterns (e.g., Clean Architecture, CQRS, or other architectural patterns). 
  • Familiarity with application monitoring, including logs, metrics, and observability tools. 
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
