GridEyes is an innovative project managed by StormGeo, aimed at revolutionizing vegetation management and grid resilience for electrical grids using satellite data and artificial intelligence. Our goal is to enhance the reliability and efficiency of power infrastructure by providing real-time, data-driven insights to utility companies. We are a dynamic and distributed team working at the forefront of geospatial technology, and we are looking for a talented backend developer to join us on this exciting journey.

Job Description

As a Backend Developer at GridEyes, you will be an integral part of our development team, working to design, build, and maintain the core backend systems that power our advanced geospatial analytics platform. You will collaborate with an exceptionally talented team of data scientists, front-end developers, and engineers to deliver scalable and robust solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology, contribute to significant advancements in the energy sector, and be part of a project with real-world impact.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Python.

  • Utilize AWS to deploy and manage scalable cloud infrastructure.

  • Integrate geospatial data and implement geospatial processing algorithms.

  • Work with PostGIS for spatial database management.

  • Handle GeoTIFF and other geospatial data formats.

  • Collaborate with front-end developers to ensure seamless integration of services.

  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to maintain code quality.

  • Contribute to the design and architecture of new features and services.

  • Document technical designs and processes.

Requirements

To apply for the position, you need to have experience with Python programming and its ecosystem. You need to have hands-on experience with AWS services for deploying and managing applications. Due to safety regulations linked to working with sensitive infrastructure data (powerlines), applicants must hold a passport from a NATO country.

Maybe you also know geospatial data processing and analysis, experience with PostGIS for handling spatial data in PostgreSQL, or familiarity with GeoTIFF and other geospatial data formats. We also believe that you might have experience with TypeScript for building scalable applications, or knowledge of AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) for defining cloud infrastructure in code.

What We Offer

We offer you the opportunity to contribute to a project that enhances the reliability and efficiency of electrical grids, ensuring better service for millions. You will work on the latest technologies in geospatial analytics and AI. In a team of exceptionally talented and supportive individuals who value collaboration and knowledge sharing. In StormGeo you will have flexible Work Arrangements with the option to work from our offices in Bergen, Oslo, or Vilnius, or remotely as part of our distributed team. With StormGeo and the GridEye team, you will have opportunities for continuous learning and development in a fast-paced, innovative industry.
