About the Role

As our business continues to grow, we are strengthening our analysis team within the power and energy markets—an increasingly important area for StormGeo. The team focuses on Nordic and European power, emission, and fuel markets, delivering high-quality insights and solutions. We are now looking for a Quant Energy Market Analyst to join our Oslo office. In this role, you will collaborate with multiple teams across StormGeo, contribute to sales support, and work closely with R&D. You will also contribute to external presentations, so excellent communication and collaboration skills are vital. We are open to training those who have no previous industry experience; however, you should have a strong interest in the field of energy markets and a passion for sustainable solutions and technical brilliance.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide daily price prognoses and market analyses for major utilities, energy companies, and traders across Europe.
  • Design and develop analysis, tools and models for energy price forecasting, focusing on the impact of weather and climate on energy prices in the short and long term.
  • Develop automized or semi-automized workflows and efficient and scalable products using AI and ML.
  • Stay updated on energy transition drivers toward a net-zero society.
  • Adapt models to reflect changes in market data.
  • Collaborate with IT and R&D to ensure data sourcing/data structures/databases/developed models can be integrated and maintained optimally.
  • optimize data sourcing, structures, and model integration.

Core Requirements

We’re looking for a good quant energy analyst who is an independent thinker; creative in finding alternative solutions, is diligent, responsible, and reliable. We believe you have a practical and pragmatic approach to your work. You can build collaboration within the team and across the business and can apply the right level of approximation and estimation to deliver results within the required timeline.

  • BSc/MSc in either technical, mathematics, economics, or financial fields.
  • Experience in energy consulting or market analysis
  • Solid IT and data analysis skills, with strong skills in Microsoft 365, VBA programming, and Python.
  • Good mathematical foundation and ability to translate data into market insights.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); preferably also in a Scandinavian language.
