UK (CAP 746) - Airport Observer Training Description

Overview

Our CAP 746 training for aerodrome meteorological observers includes:

  • 5-day Restricted Meteorological Observer (RMO) course
  • Full 10-day Meteorological Observer course
  • 2-day Refresher/Met Assessor course
  • Annual Competency Assessment
  • Station Start-up Competency Assessment
Locations

We offer training at customer airports or heliports worldwide, upon request, as well as courses throughout the year at our dedicated training centre in Westhill, Aberdeenshire.

Airport Meteorological Observer Course

The course objective is to provide the observer with the required knowledge and practical skills to make weather reports in the METAR format to the standard necessary to ensure the safety of aircraft.

On successful completion of the theoretical and practical exams, the trainee will be awarded a meteorological observer certificate.
